Tyre wear patterns are one of the most reliable diagnostic tools for identifying suspension and alignment problems. In UAE, where tyre wear is accelerated by high ambient temperatures, heavy vehicle loads, and high mileage, checking tyre wear regularly can catch mechanical problems before they cause a safety incident or a roadside breakdown.
Even Wear Across the Full Tread Width

Wear on Both Outer Edges (Underinflation Wear)
Both outer shoulders of the tyre wear faster than the centre when the tyre is consistently underinflated. The tyre bows outward under load, placing more contact pressure on the shoulders. In UAE summer heat, a tyre that is already at the correct cold pressure becomes dangerously overloaded. Maintain correct tyre pressure and check cold at least monthly.

Wear on One Edge Only (Camber Wear)

Scalloping or Cupping (Shock Absorber Wear)
A scalloped or cupped wear pattern — alternating high and low patches around the tread — indicates worn shock absorbers or struts. The wheel bounces rather than staying in contact with the road, and the tread wears unevenly. Replacing the shock absorbers and tyres together is the correct resolution.
Feathering (Toe Misalignment)
Feathering — where the tread blocks are rounded on one side and sharp on the other — indicates toe misalignment. The tyre is scrubbing sideways as it rolls. A wheel alignment resolves this, but if caught late the tyre surface cannot be recovered.
