Power Steering Cooler UAE — Do You Need One and What Does It Cost?

4 Jul 2026 2 min read

A power steering fluid cooler is an optional or factory-fitted component on some larger UAE vehicles. In the UAE climate, where ambient temperatures can reach 50 degrees Celsius and the power steering system works hard in urban traffic, the question of whether to fit or service a power steering cooler is relevant for many Land Cruiser, Patrol, and commercial vehicle owners. This guide explains what you need to know.

Do You Need a Power Steering Cooler in UAE?

Most standard UAE passenger cars and small to mid-size SUVs do not need an aftermarket power steering cooler. The factory system is designed to cope with normal driving conditions including the UAE climate. However, a cooler provides genuine benefit for: Toyota Land Cruiser 80, 100, and 200 series used for heavy desert or off-road driving; Nissan Patrol models used for extended off-road sessions; Any vehicle used extensively for towing in UAE summer temperatures; Vehicles used for recurring low-speed high-load manoeuvring such as commercial trucks or delivery vehicles.

Factory vs Aftermarket Cooler

Some Land Cruiser 80 and 100 series variants were factory-fitted with a power steering cooler as part of the heavy-duty option package. This consists of a small heat exchanger in the power steering return line, mounted in a position where airflow from the radiator fan or vehicle movement cools the fins. Aftermarket coolers are available for most common UAE SUVs from performance parts suppliers in Dubai and Abu Dhabi at AED 200 to AED 600 for the cooler unit, plus AED 200 to AED 400 for fitting.

Inspect and flush cooler: AED 100 to AED 200. Replace leaking cooler: AED 150 to AED 400 plus fitting. Install aftermarket cooler: AED 400 to AED 1,000 including parts and labour.
