Steering Wheel Vibration Causes UAE 2026 — Diagnosis and Fix

4 Jul 2026 2 min read

Steering wheel vibration is one of the most frequently reported driving complaints at UAE workshops. The vibration may be constant, speed-dependent, or occur only under braking. Identifying which type of vibration you have narrows the cause significantly. This guide covers every common cause of steering wheel vibration on UAE vehicles in 2026.

Vibration at Specific Highway Speeds (80 to 120 km/h)

This pattern almost always means out-of-balance wheels or tyres. As the vehicle accelerates through a certain speed range, the imbalance creates a resonance that causes the wheel and column to vibrate. The vibration typically smooths out above and below that speed band. Fix: wheel balancing at any tyre shop. Cost: AED 60 to AED 120 for all four wheels. This is the most common and least costly cause of steering vibration in UAE.

Vibration at Low Speed or Constant Through All Speeds

Bent wheel or damaged tyre: a bent alloy or a tyre with a separated belt will cause constant vibration that does not change with speed. Wheel bearing failure: a failing wheel bearing produces vibration that typically increases with speed and is accompanied by a humming or grinding sound. Worn CV joints: a worn outer CV joint may produce vibration at low speed, particularly on acceleration. Worn tie rod ends or ball joints: these introduce play in the steering system that manifests as vibration and vague steering feel.

Vibration Only Under Braking

Warped brake discs are the most common cause of steering wheel vibration that only occurs when braking. The pulsing is caused by the brake pad running over the high spot in the disc on every rotation. Fix: disc machining or replacement. Cost: AED 150 to AED 600 per axle in UAE.

Vibration After Tyre Change or Wheel Work

New tyres that were not rebalanced, or wheels that were not properly torqued (causing slight run-out), are common causes of new vibration after tyre work in UAE. Ensure all wheel nuts are torqued to spec and rebalance all four wheels after any tyre change.
