Who Needs to Renew Car Registration

Abu Dhabi Car Registration Renewal Process
In Abu Dhabi, vehicles four years old or older require a periodic vehicle inspection before renewal. The inspection is done at authorised ADNOC or other approved testing centres. Renewal can be completed through the Abu Dhabi Digital Authority app, ADGM service centres, or authorised typing offices. All outstanding traffic fines must be paid in advance. The renewal fee is approximately AED 250 to AED 350 depending on vehicle type.
Sharjah, Ajman, RAK, Fujairah, and UmQ
The other five UAE emirates have their own vehicle inspection and registration renewal systems. In Sharjah, renewal is handled through the Sharjah Police or authorised centres. Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Umm Al Quwain each have their own registration authorities and renewal processes, all of which require a valid inspection certificate and cleared fines. Fees are generally lower than Dubai.
What Happens If You Miss the Renewal Date
Driving with an expired Mulkiya in any UAE emirate is a traffic violation. In Dubai, the fine is AED 500. In other emirates, similar penalties apply and the vehicle may be impounded in repeat violation cases.
