Why Is My Car Failing the UAE RTA Emissions Test?
The UAE RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) vehicle inspection includes an exhaust emissions test that checks carbon monoxide (CO), hydrocarbons (HC), and for diesel vehicles, smoke opacity. Failing this test prevents registration renewal and requires the vehicle to be repaired and retested. Faulty Lambda (Oxygen) Sensor
The lambda sensor is the most common cause of an emissions test failure in petrol vehicles. Diesel vehicles failing the opacity test typically benefit from DPF cleaning, injector service, or EGR valve inspection before retesting.
