Car Interior Maintenance Guide UAE 2026 — Protecting Cabin Materials from UAE Heat and Dust

4 Jul 2026 2 min read

Why UAE Conditions Are Hard on Car Interiors

The UAE climate is among the most challenging for vehicle interior materials of any car market globally. Intense UV radiation (UV index 10-11 in summer) accelerates the photodegradation of plastics, rubber, leather, and fabric. Ambient temperatures in direct sun raise interior air temperatures to 70 to 90 degrees Celsius when parked, softening plastics, drying out leather, and degrading rubber seals, gaskets, and window channels. Fine sand dust penetrates the interior through door gaps, sunroofs, and ventilation systems, abrading surfaces and clogging switches. Understanding how to protect interior materials extends vehicle life, maintains resale value, and reduces the frequency of interior repair needs.

Protecting Rubber and Plastic Interior Components in UAE

Rubber seals around doors, windows, and the sunroof require protection from UV and heat. Application of a rubber and plastic conditioner (silicone-based products are most effective) every three to four months slows rubber hardening and cracking. This is particularly important for door seals, sunroof seals (directly exposed to UV and rain impact), and the rubber boots on door wiring harnesses. Dashboard plastics should be protected with a non-greasy UV protectant product that prevents surface cracking and discolouration. Parking in shade, in a garage, or using a windscreen sunshade significantly reduces interior temperature when parked and dramatically extends the life of all interior materials.

Electric Window and Sunroof Maintenance in UAE

Electric window rubber channels and sunroof seals benefit from lubrication with a silicone spray or rubber conditioner every six months. Clean window channels prevent sand abrasion of the glass and reduce the effort required from the window motor, extending motor life. Sunroof drain tubes should be cleared annually (more frequently for vehicles in dusty locations or parked outdoors without cover). A blocked sunroof drain tube is the most common cause of interior water damage in UAE vehicles after rare rainfall or car washing, and cleaning takes only minutes at a UAE auto workshop.
