Car Oil Leak Sources in UAE (2026)

Engine oil leaks are extremely common in UAE vehicles, and UAE heat is the primary cause. Rubber gaskets, O-rings, and seals dry out, crack, and shrink much faster in UAE ambient temperatures than in cooler climates. A small oil leak left unaddressed becomes a larger leak as the component degrades further and as the oil film that maintains the seal dissipates. Understanding the most common UAE oil leak sources helps drivers communicate accurately with UAE mechanics and avoid paying for unnecessary parts replacement.

Most Common UAE Engine Oil Leak Points

The valve cover gasket is the single most common oil leak source on UAE high-mileage engines — it seals the cam cover to the cylinder head and degrades from heat cycling. Valve cover gasket replacement costs AED 150-500. The oil sump gasket or drain plug seal is the next most common — the drain plug copper washer should be replaced at every oil change to prevent seepage. The camshaft position sensor O-ring and crankshaft position sensor O-ring are small rubber seals that fail on high-mileage UAE engines, causing small but persistent oil leaks at the front of the engine. Timing cover gasket leaks look similar to front crankshaft seal leaks — the UAE garage must degrease and identify the exact source. Oil cooler adapter O-rings fail and drip oil down the side of the engine on many Toyota and Nissan engines. The rear main seal (between engine and gearbox) is the most expensive seal to replace due to gearbox removal labour. Use GarageBuddy to find UAE garages experienced with engine oil leak diagnosis.
