Why Is My Car Vibrating While Driving in UAE?
Vibration while driving is one of the most common complaints UAE motorists bring to auto workshops. The symptom ranges from a mild steering wheel tremor at certain speeds to a whole-body shake that makes the vehicle unpleasant and unsafe to drive. Vibration has many possible causes, and correctly diagnosing the source before spending money on repairs requires systematic investigation. The most common causes of driving vibration in UAE vehicles are outlined below.
Wheel and Tyre-Related Vibration
The most frequent cause of UAE car vibration is tyre and wheel problems. Out-of-balance wheels cause vibration that typically appears at a specific speed range, usually 80 to 120 km/h on UAE highway sections. Wheel balancing at a UAE tyre shop resolves this and costs AED 10 to AED 20 per wheel. Tyres with flat spots from prolonged stationary storage (common in UAE vehicles parked outdoors for weeks without use), damaged tyres with internal belt separation, or tyres with uneven wear also cause vibration. Alloy wheel damage from kerb strikes or potholes creates imbalance.
Driveline Vibration
On 4WD and rear-wheel-drive vehicles, propshaft vibration from worn universal joints or a damaged propshaft causes vibration during acceleration that may change or disappear when coasting. CV axle vibration on front-wheel-drive vehicles typically presents as vibration and clicking during turning. Differential problems cause vibration under load at consistent speeds. A UAE drivetrain mechanic can distinguish driveline vibration from tyre vibration by its characteristics and by a test drive with the wheel and tyre condition already assessed.
Brake-Related Vibration
Warped brake discs (rotors) cause vibration through the steering wheel specifically when braking, not during free rolling. UAE heat accelerates brake disc warping, particularly if the vehicle regularly descends mountain roads in Ras Al Khaimah or Fujairah with heavy brake use. Vibration that only appears when the brake pedal is applied and disappears when braking is released is almost certainly brake-disc related.
