Carbon buildup on intake valves is an increasingly common problem in UAE that affects a growing number of vehicles with direct injection (GDI/FSI/TFSI) engines. Unlike older port-injection engines where fuel is sprayed over the intake valves (washing them clean), GDI engines inject fuel directly into the combustion chamber. This means oil vapour from the PCV system coats the intake valves with no cleaning wash — and in UAE desert conditions, fine dust particles accelerate the buildup further.
