Dark smoked tints are in a grey area. The RTA requires headlights to meet minimum lux output standards. A heavily tinted headlight that fails to illuminate the road adequately can result in a failed Wasel test.
Coloured tints (yellow, red, green) are explicitly prohibited for headlights under UAE traffic law. Only white or amber is permitted for forward-facing lights.

Clear Film vs Tint: Which Should You Choose?

Smoked tint is purely aesthetic. If road visibility is important to you (and it should be), light smoked film on rear lights is the safer application. Avoid dark tints on front headlights entirely.

Most professional installations take 1–2 hours per pair. Custom-cut film for complex headlight shapes takes longer. The film needs 24 hours to fully cure before washing the car.
How Long Does Headlight Tint Film Last?
Quality vinyl and PPF films last 3–5 years in UAE conditions. Cheap films fade, bubble, and peel within 12 months under intense UV and heat. Pay the extra AED 50–100 for a reputable brand — it’s worth it.
