PCV Valve Replacement Cost UAE 2026 — Workshop Prices Guide

The positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve is one of the most overlooked engine maintenance items. Costing very little to replace, a neglected PCV valve can cause expensive engine oil leaks and sludge accumulation. This guide covers PCV valve replacement costs and how to identify when replacement is needed in UAE conditions.

Understanding the PCV System

During normal engine operation, combustion gases (blowby) escape past the piston rings into the crankcase below the pistons. Without a way to remove these gases, crankcase pressure would rise, forcing oil past gaskets and oil seals. The PCV system routes these gases through the PCV valve back to the engine intake manifold where they are burned in the combustion process. The PCV valve is a one-way valve that allows crankcase gases to flow in one direction only, preventing backfire flames from entering the crankcase.

PCV Valve Replacement Cost in UAE

PCV valve replacement costs AED 80 to AED 300 at UAE garages. The PCV valve part itself typically costs AED 30 to AED 100 depending on vehicle make. Labour cost depends on valve accessibility, ranging from 30 minutes on simple layouts to 2 hours on engines where the valve is integrated into the valve cover. PCV hose replacement adds AED 50 to AED 150 if the hoses are cracked or oil-saturated. The complete PCV system service is significantly cheaper than repairing the oil leaks and sludge damage that a failed PCV valve causes if left unaddressed.

PCV System in UAE Heat Conditions

UAE summer heat accelerates the degradation of the PCV valve rubber seat and diaphragm, as well as the rubber hoses connecting the system. High engine bay temperatures cause the rubber to harden, crack, and lose its sealing properties faster than in cooler climates. The sludge that forms in the crankcase from degraded oil in UAE heat can also block the PCV valve in the closed or partially closed position, causing the pressure buildup that leads to oil leaks. Vehicles with histories of late oil changes in UAE are most susceptible to PCV system failure.

PCV Valve Replacement Interval

Most manufacturers specify PCV valve inspection as part of the major service interval, typically every 60,000 to 80,000 km. However, in UAE heat conditions with the associated faster oil degradation and rubber deterioration, PCV valve inspection at every 30,000 km is prudent. Any vehicle with evidence of oil leaks from the valve cover gasket or other top-end gaskets should have the PCV system tested before replacing the gaskets, as a blocked PCV valve will cause immediate recurrence of the leaks after gasket replacement.
