TPMS Sensor Replacement Cost in UAE 2025

The tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) became mandatory on all new vehicles sold in the UAE from 2014 onward. TPMS sensors transmit real-time tyre pressure data to the dashboard, alerting the driver when any tyre is 25% or more below the recommended pressure. When a TPMS sensor fails, the dashboard warning light activates and remains on until the faulty sensor is replaced and reprogrammed. Understanding the replacement cost helps UAE drivers budget appropriately.

Types of TPMS Sensors Used in UAE Vehicles

Two main types of TPMS sensors are used in UAE vehicles. Direct TPMS sensors are fitted inside each wheel and measure actual tyre pressure via a battery-powered transmitter. Indirect TPMS systems use wheel speed sensors from the ABS system to infer pressure differences and do not have replaceable sensors. The majority of modern UAE-market vehicles use direct TPMS sensors. Aftermarket replacement sensors are available for most popular vehicles and are typically compatible with OEM TPMS receivers, though some vehicles require OEM sensors for full functionality.

TPMS Sensor Replacement Cost by Vehicle Type

For standard Japanese and Korean vehicles including Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Kia, and Hyundai, aftermarket TPMS sensors cost AED 80 to AED 150 each, and a full four-sensor replacement costs AED 450 to AED 800 including programming and wheel balancing. For American SUVs and pickup trucks including GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe, Ford F-150, and Ram, sensors cost AED 100 to AED 200 each. For European luxury vehicles including BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Volkswagen, and Porsche, OEM or OEM-equivalent sensors are usually required and cost AED 200 to AED 500 per sensor, with a full replacement costing AED 1,000 to AED 2,500.

Additional Costs to Consider

When one sensor fails due to battery depletion, the remaining sensors are often close to the end of their service life. UAE workshops frequently recommend replacing all four sensors at the same service visit to avoid repeat visits and additional labour charges. Wheel balancing after sensor replacement adds AED 20 to AED 50 per wheel. TPMS relearn programming, which is required after sensor replacement, is typically included in the workshop labour charge.
